The Cheewhat Giant

from 35.00

Nestled in the Pacific Rim National Reserve, the Cheewhat Giant is claimed by some as Canada’s largest tree. Standing at a height of 182 feet, and reaching 20 feet in diameter, this western red cedar is beyond words to be within it’s presence. The first time I visited this massive living being, I was awestruck. I didn’t believe that these trees were only several hours away from where I live. The first half-hour was spent looking at all the features of the tree, and the next half hour was spent sitting down on the ground and appreciating my privilege of being in the space of an ancient living being.

Location: Cheewhat Giant. Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
