What’s it like to be driven? What’s it like to want something? What’s it like to want to pursue a love, a passion, a desire, a goal that means dear to you? What’s it like to be truly inspired? To me it feels authentic. It feels immersive. It gives off an invigorating sense of desire to the point that I’m willing to change my mindset towards a new trajectory.
Being driven is the glimmer of light when you’re working a job or are involved in a project that doesn’t fulfill what you believe in. It’s the enlightening moment when you sit down away from the noise and state of degradation that is our society. It’s the force inside of us that interdicts every thought that comes across our minds when it gets clouded with useless information. It’s that notion of something more, a force that defies what’s standard and conventional, and shifts those approaches to another side of you that gets neglected. The gift of creation surrounds us all the time. It becomes a privilege to be the host that originates and formulates that creation. Having the sense of self fulfillment when you come to the end of that creative endeavour leaves you with wanting more. Connecting with a part of you that’s honest, open, and true is a necessity that we need more often to take time and pay attention to.
We’re so involved with this fast pace, information based infrastructure that we call our personal lives that we easily miss that core element that makes us who we are. The personal traits that identifies and distinguishes ourselves that are vital to our overall state of life, our pursuits and endeavours. Being constantly surrounded by adverts of individual, self made originators to full on corporate product instigators, it’s enough distractions to keep you from fully harnessing what’s inside of you. The more we give our attention away to these foreign sources monetizing off our time and money, the less we can give to ourselves to potentially and properly discover what we can truly become.
Some of those scripted adverts try to sell you an idealistic lifestyle on a day to day bases which can be a great choice to pursue. It’s worked out for a lot of people. I respect it. But what happens when that idealistic lifestyle doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t translate properly. No matter how hard you try to frame yourself to that path , it doesn’t feel right. Your head is in the right place considered by some, but your heart is disconnected. Having to question that method, or disregard it altogether, can bring out questions like, “How do you plan on making a living?” or, “Do you think that decision is a good idea?” Granted these questions could be coming from people who care about you and are concerned for your well being, but I think the questions they should be asking is “How can I help you?” or “ What’s your next move?” That shows engagement, it shows support. It shows that the people around you care for who you are, and aren’t trying to make you question yourself just because you don’t fit within an “ideal lifestyle” that’s being fed to us from various sources.
I want to say this for those of us that feel challenged and submitted with living through these quintessential decisions we come across in life. Personal creativeness, self awareness, and mindfulness are gifts that we possess in ourselves and need to retain connection to in order to stay true. There are many variables that play and affect our daily routine in the course of our personal lives. It’s a matter of knowing and prioritizing what’s important and what’s not. Diverting away from all the useless distractions and having the right people support you can be enough to get you started. Having a sense of direction when you can easily be bombarded by irrelevant content that doesn’t relate to you in any manner is enough of an incentive to pursue that notion. Truly and genuinely believing in yourself that you have what it takes to fulfill your initiative is the enforcement you need to keep moving forward. We all encompass something truly great, it’s just finding out what that is, and being driven is a sure way to do it.
